Big Event Team
Help plan and prepare for the big Mission Week event. Responsibilities include:
- Prepare a detailed plan/schedule and track milestones
- Secure the venue
- Obtain the talent/speaker/entertainer
- Prepare the agenda
- Work closely with other teams (such as communications, child care, worship, food, transportation, etc.) to define their roles and responsibilities
Child Care Team
This team will provide for the care of children too young to participate in structured Mission Week activities. Responsibilities include:
- Collect names, ages and other relevant information from volunteer sign-up sheets
- Determine when child care will be necessary
- Secure space
- Act as care givers
- Arrange for food/snacks if necessary
Communications Team
This team will oversee all communications and public relations activities associated with this event. Responsibilities include:
- Work closely with the project manager and GCT to develop a comprehensive communications plan
- Identify and use traditional and creative communications vehicles/tools
- Prepare press releases, fliers, articles/notices for Sunday bulletins and TTL and other written announcements and notifications as appropriate
- Coordinate “Minute for Mission” and other announcements and messages as appropriate
- Arrange to have photos and video footage taken
- Design and procure items to identify volunteers on location (tee-shirts, hats, armbands, other)
Construction Team
Each construction site will have a team leader to coordinate all aspects of that particular project. Responsibilities include:
- Report daily for construction activity
- Work with House Captain to complete tasks
- Work safely and efficiently
- Attend orientation session for all participants
Food Team
This team will coordinate the planning and preparation of all meals and snacks associated with Mission Week activities. Responsibilities include:
- Work closely with other teams to identify all events where food will be served
- Plan menus
- Purchase all necessary supplies
- Prepare, serve and clean up
- Secure locations for staging and distribution, if off-site project
Senior Team
Works closely with Senior Adult Ministries Leader to participate in senior activities. Should have a heart for the senior adult population.
Prayer Team
With a heart for prayer, this team will encourage individuals, groups, the MLUPC congregation and others to pray “with one accord” that God’s will might be done in every aspect of this project. Responsibilities include:
- Make a personal commitment to fervently seek God’s guidance in this role
- Convene a core team of individuals willing to pray constantly and passionately for this project
- Identify unique and creative opportunities to make this a prayer-based project
- Consistently remind and encourage others to take this project to the Lord in prayer
- Provide those praying with specific prayer requests as they are identified
- Participate in specific prayer events such as Prayer-Walking through neighborhoods
Transportation Team
This team will oversee travel arrangements for all Mission Week activities. Responsibilities include:
- Obtain names of individuals needing transportation from volunteer sign-up sheets
- Determine parking availability at construction and other off-site locations
- Promote car pooling as appropriate
- Provide directions from MLUPC to all construction and other off-site locations
- Help park cars at the events
Worship Team
Experienced in participating in informal worship services, this team will oversee the planning and execution of all worship activities related to Mission Week. Responsibilities include:
- Work closely with the GCT and project manager to determine when and where worship/praise services will be held
- Prepare an overall worship service schedule that identifies locations, times, length of service, participants and all other relevant information
- Identify a leader for each service
- Secure a location and arrange for all necessary equipment
Video/Sound Team
This team is responsible for all video and sound activities for the week. Should be experienced in running the sound system and preparing Powerpoint presentations as well as taking photos.
